Sisterhood of TBO Proud Members of WRJ
Membership dues are $36 annually for TBO members, and $50 for non-temple members. Our year begins in August. Members are encouraged to participate in a variety of events throughout the year in order to earn donor credit. Each donor earned is equal to one ticket to the Annual Donor Luncheon. Additional donor credits allows you to bring friends and family. Donor Credit ExplainedMembers earn credit throughout the year with a goal of reaching at least $100 in donor dollars. Ladies may provide baked goods, work as an Oneg Shabbat Hostess, help with fundraising events, purchase tribute cards, memorial & simcha candles, mazel bowl tickets, or simply donate to TBO Sisterhood. In June all women with one or more donors are treated to a very special luncheon and award celebration. Some donor points may be traded in for sisterhood charms or to add diamonds to existing charms. Circles & ProgramsOur members function in a variety of ways. Individuals may organize personal donor events, such as plan for a group of friends to go out for dinner and a show. Each person pays a flat rate and the organizer is able to get a group rate from the venue. In the past our members have arranged for theater parties, bus trips, game days, museum trips, or group cooking parties. As a circle, our members provide hostess duties for specific Shabbat services. Your circle captain can give you more specific information regarding the dates. A regular hostess shift concludes after the oneg Shabbat ends approximately 9:30 pm. Duties are shared but include making coffee, plating the items provided, setting the food tables, pouring wine, cutting challah, and clean-up. Each member will earn $7.50 donor dollars for one oneg hostess shift. As an entire unit, Sisterhood of TBO raises money for the betterment of Temple Beth Ohr. Every sisterhood general meeting, members are given an opportunity to light memorial or simcha candles, or purchase mazel bowl raffle tickets. Candles cost $1 each and mazel bowl tickets are 6 for $1. If you would like to be our featured speaker for a sisterhood meeting, or know someone who would, please contact your circle captain or a member of the sisterhood board for more information. Recognition for our SistersEach year one special sister is chosen to receive the Ethel Shein Award. This award is given to someone who goes above and beyond her duties (if she is a member of the board) or is shown to exemplify the meaning of Sisterhood during the past year. Below is a list of the past recipients. |
