Regulations & Standards The Education Committee has adopted the following regulations and standards for the Temple Beth Ohr Religious and Hebrew Schools 1. Students are placed in grades according to their public school grades. Those who are five years of age by December 2nd are eligible for Kindergarten. Special placement problems should be discussed with the Rabbi. 2. All students are expected to attend each regular session of school (Religious and Hebrew, if applicable) unless excused for illness or family emergency. Written notes of excuse are required. It is also required that the student make up all missed work. 3. Incidence of more than four (4) unexcused absences subjects a student to review for dismissal from school 4. Should it become necessary that a student not attend a full day's session, prior arrangements must be made with the Rabbi. 5. Promptness in arrival for start of school and dismissal will assist in a smoothly run school. Your utmost cooperation is asked in this matter, especially when picking up students at the end of the school day. 6. Students will be attending class in a house of worship. The should dress accordingly. 7. Concurrent enrollment in, and attendance at, Hebrew and Religious School is required of all Bar/Bat Mitzvah candidates. Four years of attendance of Hebrew School is suggested and a minimum of three years of attendance and/or successful completion of work is required. The Bar/Bat Mitzvah candidate will also be required to promise to continue Religious School through Confirmation. 8. Satisfactory completion of 8th, and 9th grade work is a prerequisite for Confirmation. 9. Eligibility of Bar/Bat Mitzvah and Confirmation candidates will be determined by the Education Committee. 10. Holiday Celebrations Temple Beth Ohr seeks to create a deeper appreciation of Jewish holidays through creative, inter-generational holiday learning sessions and celebrations. Our students learn about their history and meanings of Jewish holidays, prepare many of the celebratory and ritual items used during these holidays, and actively participate in the celebration of these holidays. We invite you to share with your children in these unique learning and holiday observance opportunities. |
